1st Floor Trim Complete
Over the weekend, the trim carpenter was busy at work wrapping up the wood trim on the first floor. Clean and simple in it's design and installation, the trim work does a really nice job of emphasizing key features of the home such as the large windows and soon to be installed wood floors. One of the reasons for installing the baseboards before the hardwood floors is that it allows for the trim carpenter and painter to move around without needing to take excessive precautions to protect the pre-finished hardwood floor below (the order would be reversed if the floor were to be site finished after install). The gap left under the boards and door casing will let the flooring slide cleanly underneath the trim, when it gets installed.
