Rim Joist Spray & Batt Insulation
With the exterior stud wall cavity insulation sufficiently placed per LEED recommendations earlier in the week, the focus shifted Thursday to insulating the first floor rim joists with the 'flash & batt' system, which is 1" of spray foam followed by a layer fiberglass batts to both seal and insulate the cavity, which can otherwise be a source of significant thermal transfer.
